Break Dancing Traditionally, confetti-filled eggs cracked over head to ask for dance

“A captive audience of kindergartners and fourth-graders quietly listened to Emmy-award winning journalist and author Carla Aragon read her new children’s book, “Dance of the Eggshells (Baile de los Cascarones),” to them at Gonzales Elementary School on Tuesday.
“Wearing a festive dress and a red flower in her hair, Aragon periodically interrupted the reading to share personal stories that helped explain the cascarones tradition.”
Dr. Carla Aragón is an Emmy Award-winning journalist with more than 35 years of broadcast experience.
Carla left television news in November 2007 to pursue other interests, which include writing a bilingual children’s book called “Dance of the Eggshells/Baile de los Cascarones.” The book, published by UNM Press, is now available as part of the Spring 2010 catalog.
She currently writes a monthly column for the Santa Fe Hometown News which focuses on positive community news. In addition, she is a freelance Producer, Writer and Talent for various television and radio projects. Recently, she was the producer/talent for the Senator Pete V. Domenici oral history, which is part of the Domenici Archives established at New Mexico State University.
